Conversations with Chris

Religions were brought, each by their own divine Messenger, from the Infinite Origin to the most limited point on the periphery where a culture, history and geography called in pain, joy and suffering for Divine Power, Love and Light to show the Way, the Word, the Light. Each religion brings its own language, words, culture and history and the Messenger spreads the Message using appropriate forms and words for the people she or he are sent to.

Behind and through each Message from each Messenger is the reality of the way humankind is structured in and as a Form, while the Messenger is an Infinite being located in but not limited by, Form. The Messenger, while outside and unlimited by Form, and sharing the same Form as the student, nevertheless can share in, see, experience and point to Form, its limitations and the opportunities all humans come here to experience so as to understand the Infinity each one of us also contains.

These Conversations are designed to allow students to look at the shared ideas at the root of all religions and of the non-religious approach to spirituality which is common today. Students will be shown how the inner energy has its own anatomy and physiology. Each student will also be shown how to map their own interiority using a shared technology and approach. Each student will be offered a path to eventually map their own spiritual life and growth as a tool for actualising their divinely intended purpose. Mankind has not yet done the work on Earth it was sent to do. Personal enlightenment is a necessary but insufficient step for realising and actualising the illumination and enlightenment of the Earthly Kingdoms and Earth itself. Students who are interested in this work will also be offered a possible pathway involving shared interaction.

Lose Yourself to Dance

Embrace the journey of discovering and expressing the free-flowing you. This workshop is a time for you to explore the vertical axis of your Body, Mind and Heart, as we become more present and our movement vocabulary expands we become freer. With music as our Vessel we will together be taking a guided journey away from the outer world into our inner landscape. We will begin with 1 fundamental and powerful practice within movement medicine called  Awakening the Dancer. Difficult life experiences leave a mark on our minds and hearts and also our bodies, this can lead to numbness and dissociation, in this practice we will explore moving a different part of of our mental identity to different parts of our body, but not only does this serve to warm up the body but it creates a shift of identity, which slowly and gently begins to unthaw us and move us from an experience of disembodiment to embodiment.

Places are limited to 10 places.

Reiki Share

The Japanese word ‘Reiki’ literally translates as universal life force energy. This system of healing was developed by Mikao Usui the early 20th century. It is a non-invasive complementary therapy that has been taught and used in the UK since the late 1900s, but Eastern medicine has for thousands of years worked with this energy, recognising its flow through all living things. Reiki supports orthodox medicine or can be used alone but is not a replacement for traditional medication or treatments. It is not based on any belief, faith or suggestion, yet, scientific research using quantum physics is starting to help us to understand how Reiki healing may work to benefit the individual. It has been suggested that in years to come it may be known as energy medicine based on scientifically measurable energy emitted from the practitioner’s hands.

A reiki share is a gathering to give and receive Reiki in a casual atmosphere of friendship, honour, positive energy and devotion. If you are new to Reiki and interested in joining please contact either Reiki Masters: Peter Griffiths or Saira Francis who will both be offering Reiki Shares throughout the year,The following dates are planned:

Dates:

  • Friday March 28th 6.30-8.30pm Saira Francis £10.00

Sound Healing With Crystal Bowls

Sound healing/journey/therapy is an ancient practice for wellness, self care and meditation. A sound journey involves getting comfortable and cosy and relaxing into the sounds and vibrations made by the Quartz Crystal Sound bowls. These vibrations can help bring us back into balance and alignment. The intention is that the sessions are deeply relaxing, as the vibrations help us to achieve a different level of brain waves, which allows our subconscious mind the space to explore what is needed for clarity. Having said that, if you just need the space to be and relax, it can be that too. I encourage you to bring a journal and pen to these sessions to capture any thoughts when you return from the deep relaxation. I end my sessions with a sweet treat and the offer of an oracle card. The sweet treat helps to ground us back into the hear and now. The oracle card can offer further guidance if needed.

Sound healing has a couple of contraindications – those who are in the first trimester of pregnancy; those with any internal metal work; or those active mental health issues, are all advised to seek medical guidance before attending a sound healing session. If you are unsure please contact me to discuss in confidence.

Vedic Chanting

Vedic chanting is a wonderful thing to do, and complements yoga practice beautifully: it helps to deepen our experience. The Veda-s are the amazing ancient teachings of India, in which you can see the beginnings of yoga. They are in Sanskrit, the language of yoga and of mantra, and go back thousands of years. (Passed on orally for a very long time, they were only written down about three thousand years ago). Chanting them helps with self-expression, and gives us joy…. and you don’t have to be able to sing! There are only 3 notes!

I have been fortunate enough to be learning this practice for over 30 years, and still have lessons with my teacher.

If you decide to continue, you will need to buy the book that has the chants we shall be using, but you wont need this to begin with.

Sarah  teaches the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali from 10.30-11.45am before this class, and the two are wonderful together as both are written in the ancient text of Sanskrit and complement each other.  Both are also the beginnings to our modern yoga practice. This class is a donations based class and all proceeds will go to the charity:

Viniyoga Therapy Training

Self-empowerment and healing through body, breath, mind and spirit

This course will offer in-depth training in applying the holistic principles of Yoga as a complementary healing system. It is most suited for those who want to become Yoga Therapists and those who wish to develop individualized complementary Yoga Therapy processes for students with different ailments or health concerns.

By undergoing this intense training, students learn about the therapeutic aspects of Yoga so that they may facilitate others in the journey towards self-empowerment, healing and personal transformation. It will also provide trainees an excellent opportunity to develop their unique strengths as healers.

The main faculty for this training program will be Dr Kausthub Desikachar. This is the first ever Viniyoga Therapy Training offered in the UK!

In the classical Viniyoga® tradition, Yoga Therapy is practised with the following orientation:

  • As a self-empowering process, where the Care Seeker is responsible for his/her healing process
  • In an individualized, one-to-one setting
  • As multi-dimensional in its approach, often utilizing many tools of Yoga
  • As a process focused on the individual, not just the illness
  • As a context-sensitive method, respecting the age, occupation, ability and other parameters of the individual
  • As an evolving process, not an instant solution
  • As a personal and spiritual development path, a process for developing one’s own unique potentials
  • As a collaborative and complementary system of self-health care

Year Of The Snake-Freeing The Spine

This year, we honor the serpent’s grace and strength, symbolizing transformation and renewal. In this workshop, we place the spine at the centre of our practice, exploring how to create freedom and fluidity throughout the body.

Often overshadowed by the limbs, the spine serves as the central axis of movement and energy. This practice will bring attention to the often-overlooked role of the spine, cultivating awareness and enhancing spinal mobility, balance, and strength. Through an Ashtanga-inspired sequence, we’ll focus on conscious, deliberate movements, using breath to support and free the spine.

Expect a grounding, exploratory practice that celebrates the serpent-like qualities of awareness and adaptability, awakening a deeper somatic intelligence in every pose.

Yoga Sutras of Patanjali

Patanjali’s Yoga Sutra, probably composed around 2,000 years ago, are universally recognised as the classic teaching and ultimate authority on yoga. Amazingly, they are still completely relevant to our life and times.

They consist of 195 short aphorisms, because they were designed to be learned by heart. They therefore have to be explained and discussed with a teacher who has learned them with a teacher. Sarah Ryan has been studying the sutras for many years and has a wealth of information. Each session is a mix of teaching, discussion and practice, with one or two sutras studied in depth each week. It is not only very suitable for yoga teachers who can use it as In-Service Training, but also for any student who wants to know more about yoga. The ideas behind yoga practice are fascinating and extremely useful, helping us to better understand ourselves and our life. Do come and join us. These monthly meetings work as stand-alone sessions – you don’t have to have attend each month.

Sarah teaches Vedic Chanting directly after this class at 12.00-1.00pm and the two are wonderful together as both are written in the ancient text of Sanskrit and complement each other as both are the beginnings to our modern yoga practice.
